Thanks for the correction Chuck. I forgot the change to the Infantry Division structure.
Here's an article about the transformation: www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2022/04/11/the-armys-transformation-begins-with-these-new-units/
Attached is an early graphic about the change in structure. It has changed since this was published.
I found this other information on the web:
www.battleorder.org/us-orbat
www.battleorder.org/post/waypoint-divisions
This looks like to me there is going to be a fairly massive conversion of Stryker Brigades to Armor Brigades. There are supposedly:
17 Armor Brigades
9 Infantry Brigades
1 Airborne Division
1 Air Assault Division
3 Armored Cavalry Squadrons
2 - 11 Light Cavalry Squadrons
11 Light Tank Battalions
Totals:
18 Divisions
Active
1st Infantry Div (Armored)
3rd Infantry Div (Armored)
4th Infantry Div (Armored)
10th Infantry Div (Light)
11th Ifantry Div (Light)
25th Infantry Div (Light)
82nd Infantry Div (Airborne)
101st Infantry Div (Air Assault)
1st Cavalry Div (Armored/Reinforced)
1st Armored Div (Armored/Reinforced)
National Guard
28th Infantry Div (Light)
29th Infantry Div (Light)
34th Infantry Div (Armored/Reinforced)
35th Infantry Div (Light)
36th Infantry Div (Armored)
42nd Infantry Div (Light)
38th Infantry Div (Light)
It is unclear if separate Brigades/Regiments will survive
2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment*
3rd Stryker Cavalry Regiment*
11th Armored Cavalry Regiment**
173rd Airborne Brigade
*These are in fact currently Stryker Brigades which are merely Motorized Infantry
** An understrength Armored Brigade which serves as the Opposing Force at the National Training Center.
