I've only had a brief chance to look through it but I'm impressed. Unfortunately today is the start of a very busy weekend so it will be Tuesday before I get a chance to really sit down and read it.

Sounds like a good get together, Fred sent me over a signed copy of Participants, it would sit nicely next to a signed copy of Donahue's book. Wish I was there with you and meet Steve also, plus meet Fred face to face at last.

Steve I am going to have to explore getting a soft copy. I don't want to mess up my signed copy too much. I will be hand carrying it over to the new house rather than throw it into a box.

Steve I am green with envy. Not the horse ride mind you--because I have had difficult relationships with beasts of the equine nature in the past, but I so want to get back to LBH.

I have number 10 of 250 and will pass it on to my son. I like to have field copies that I can write in and take with me to Montana.

I treasure each years visit with friends there. Things are changing including getting older. I wish we could all meet there at least one time. Sooner rather than later.

Exactly. Last year at this time I wasn't sure I would get through the year alive but my focus was to get better to go to LBH. It is the imagine I have had in my head through PT and OT and days on end in the hospital. If it weren't for all the vacation time Steve was having to use right now to get Gwen to college and then moving I would be doing my best to get there this year. Until then it is still my motivation to get up and move on days that I would much rather just sit.

So true. I sat home two days about 4 years ago and thought I don't have to do anything today it can wait until tomorrow. I realized I needed at least a thought of doing something to help motivate me. Last week I spent 4 days on the range in Phoenix and then worked Saturday and Sunday on Lake Powell. I was worn out but I don't know how much longer I can continue. My fear is to stop and then just sit around.
Going to the battlefield is a good incentive for me and a lot less stressful than working outside in near 100 degree weather. I enjoy sharing with everyone here and it gets me going in the morning. My first coffee is here on the board. This feels like family even though we have not all met. Sometimes there are issue but I believe it has more to do with this method of communication as compared to being in person.
In this last class there were 6 officers and by chance they are all big and 1 is a Marine. I know I am handing over the torch to a great bunch of new officers but sometimes its hard to let go. I am thankful that I received some good information to develop something I would like to do outside of working for AZGFD. In 2009 my youngest son gave me a trip for both of to the battlefield. The next year I was to meet up with Gordon Harper and what he called ICE. Independent Company of Explorers. He passed away and his daughter Tori showed up in his place. She continued to show up for quite a few years. She really missed her Dad and we were a connection. It was a good transition for her. Her breast cancer made some real changes in her life and the children are getting older. I wish her the best.
Tom and I still show up and I really appreciate that he visited my son when he had his medical issues. I like hanging out with Tom even if he almost got me into trouble in Deadwood. This year Fred and his crew will show up. They come every other year. Will Hutchison will be there. His book on artifacts of the battle was done right at the battlefield.
I would sure like to share all the contacts we have made there. It would add to the experience I would think.
Regards
Steve

I will continue to motivate myself to get there some day. I will even bring a nice bottle of port to be shared--or tequila. I am always open to options.

I had an opportunity to speak with Mr. Donahue today when ordering a copy of his new book and found him to be very courteous and affable man. He was gracious enough to forgive me for knowing Deadwood and AZ Ranger! Said he saw Steve at breakfast this morning.
He will mail the book Monday and I am awaiting for my copy to arrive. He thanked me for my purchase and support and hoped I would enjoy his work. So nice to see folks appreciate my Father’s Day gift money!
Regards
Dave
