I have the complete collection of Father Brown by Chesterton, but I also have, and have read at least twice every book Christie ever wrote. The school librarian at Sam's middle school had what she called library orphans, books that hadn't been checked out in years. Sam checked out one "And then there were None" and instantly became hooked on Christie. She also talked so much about them that all of her friends started reading them.

Christie is an acquired taste, as is Father Brown. I do enjoy Ellis Peter's work, but I do not believe she ever fully developed her main character. It is more about the science than the person

I've tried to read her work but just haven't been able to get into them. The same thing with Dorothy Sayer, some of her earlier Lord Wimsey books are pretty good but then she sort of falls in love with her character and it the later books just fall apart. The series with Peter Davidson was pretty good though-my girls especially enjoyed the theme song. I do enjoy PD Wodehouse and his Jeeves and Wooster stories though they are light on mystery but the setting and characters are great.
Steve and I both enjoy the Miss Fisher Mysteries series, but the books are much racier than the series. I was heartbroken to find out that Dr. Blake has been canceled in Australia because even though we are several seasons behind it is an excellent show and a shame it will come to an end.
I should go back and reread Ellery Queen perhaps, I haven't read them in decades or perhaps Nero Wolfe.

Dave, I bought the complete set of Cadfael on DVD, I got about half way through and stopped, I will dig them out again when I feel in a medieval mood.
Sharpe was one of my favorites and funny enough Sean Bean has just featured in a BBC drama series called "broken" were he plays a priest in a rough town in England, it was great and I hope it gets shown over there, all though it is really dark in some points.
Sue and I are currently hooked on "House of Cards" on netflix, Spacy in brilliant as ever, and if you can dig out the original series, which was made in Britain in the 1990s, then do so, you can see that the American version has picked out the best bits and added their own structure to the show.

I suppose you have seen the picture David. Do those two people identified as Noonan and Earhart look like prisoners to you. Noonan is yucking it up and Earhart looks like she does not have a care in the world, judging by what she is doing. And yes Noonan as the TEAL Jack The Ripper needs to be explored along with the Keogh Legging, the Holy Grail, The True Cross of Christ, and the curriculum of Queen's Staff College. They look like tourists. Damned spell check.

Nothing new, fairly well compiled, but waste of FBI talent, other than to make it seem legit.

I believe that there have been more thorough investigations conducted on the robbery of Little Suzie's lemonade stand than what any of us viewed last night.
I hope that FBI guy made lots of money for this one, because no one will ever give him any credence again.
I loved that wide eyed ex Treasury agent's find of a Coke bottle at the dig site near the end, as if there was only one Coke in the traditional bottle ever consumed on Saipan. Nonsense.
All in all there was nothing new presented here, no authentication on how, when, or why the photo was taken, no new accounts, all of this regurgitated from earlier "now the truth can be told" discoveries. A couple of these so called witnesses, including the old lady, and the nurse in Kentucky have already been found to be frauds and whack jobs.
They give very little, nearly nothing, on the fate of the aircraft, which I find to be the most telling omission. Take yourself back in time to 1937. A state of the art American aircraft falls into the lap of Japanese Army and Navy technical intelligence. Don't you think the Japanese are smart enough to grab that aircraft, take it back to Japan, and tear it apart in an effort to find out everything they can about the current state of the American aircraft industry. The Japanese did this with every type aircraft that fell into their hands. So did we. So leaving that out proved to me these people had nothing at all. The tracing of that aircraft, and the records associated with its examination would be the tell as to if Earhart and Noonan, along with the Electra fell into Japanese hands.
Why would, had we knowledge of Earhart's capture, as this program eludes to but never presents proof of, we ever keep such a thing classified seventeen years into the 21st Century? Does not make sense. If that were so they both would not be the first that this country has let die, to maintain a closely held secret.
