www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdNV9JX-Xi8I was prompted to place the above link by a PM. You would have gotten it anyway later, due to the presentations that I witnessed at the battlefield, on Saturday. Sen. Ben Campbell and a number of NA dignitaries gave medals to Native American Veterans, some in wheel chairs and some missing limbs, or lacking sight. Native Americans have the highest percentage rate of any minority in our military services. As I am sure you all know that this year was the 140th anniversary of the battle. Our Native American brothers did a splendid job of making a memorable day. I will add some other stuff after I sleep off a 2 day drive. 9 hrs. sleep since Saturday morning.

Just barely awake. Still unpacking and sorting things.
Had a great trip with Tom. Should have had a few more drinks in Deadwood. Did some research in Billings for Jose. Had a great trip in general.
Still did not float the river so maybe next year but I think I will bring a kayak.

Hi all,
I returned to the UK on the 23rd June, described as a smart and a dumb move in equal measure by people at the site. I met some great people, so friendly and helpful.
The Keogh/Crazy Horse trail was where I first encountered a snake, he got bored and slid away after a minute or so.
I took way too many photos, will be organising them for weeks to come. Hope you don't mind a quick sharing of one, this chap on the Reno/Benteen Defense site just wouldn't budge, he won, I left the trail.
Regards
Joe

Joe Always carry a seven iron when walking about snake turf. Keep you head down and swing smoothly which will part his head from the body. Regards Dave

Dave I hope you are selective on which snakes you decide to practice chip shots.
I look forward to everyone's pictures

Beth If it is a poisonous snake in my path---Timber Rattler, Water Moccasin or Copperhead---I take the head. Between my house and a lake across the street, where my grand kids and fish, I have killed 2 Copperheads in the last 2 years. Non poisonous snakes get a pass and sometimes moved to safer turf. Small lakes attract snakes but can't take a chance with the kids, sorry. Regards Dave

This year at the reenactment we saw a very large number cavalry members and some fine horseflesh. The reenactors would have outnumbered either Reno's or Benteen's commands. The amount of money these guys spend on their equipment is astounding, that is over and above travel and horses. The warriors were finely decked out and did great work, even though they were outnumbered 3 to 1. Bareback riding is difficult, they did an admirable job.
There were presentations on the Real Birds property prior to the actual event. The battle took place across a ford on preservation land, was well executed, creating what would make a beautiful tableau, at the distance.
The temperature was not what it had been on Monday, but still plenty hot, the uniforms must have made it real hot for participants. I am almost surprised some did not fallout due to the heat.
As an aside, Reno's great, great grandnephew did Reno's part.

Interesting tidbit from the trip, a fellow who did a documentary last year on Discovery about Custer's gold and gold wagons is back. He is not taking into account that Custer had no wagons along Reno Creek or anywhere else after leaving Terry. This clown has heard that there are wagon parts located there and there are, that valley was a travel corridor not only for the NA's, but for supplies to be delivered to north central Montana in the 1860's. There were a number of minor skirmishes fought there. Steve may have some pictures of rifle pits up on the Divide. He now wants to go tramping through a Cheyenne burial grounds a with TV crew to perpetuate this fraud.
This same guy has done documentaries about giants in Minnesota, and conspiracies to keep him from the bones and other such nonsense.

Custer's gold "eh", that's a new one on me Tom, if that program does appear on the British Discovery channel, would you recommend it?

This guy has a series on the misleadingly named network "History Channel" which is to history what snake oil is to medicine. America Unearthed. The show is amusing until you realize that a large number of people believe that it's actual history.

Here's a link to a short video of Fred talking at Reno-Benteen - www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4RBiVBMkykAnd here's a link to the Montana Mayhem 2016 photo album - goo.gl/photos/fxiQttS6Gw4VZRHcA

Scott, great stuff, could not use my e-mail address to sign in, on Google. So I will post here what I would have said there, in brief. Your photos are great, it looks like a great time was had by all, we sure enjoyed hooking for the short time we did. The only photo I missed was the stone for Wesel Fred, with Fred leaning on it. Again, thanks for sharing, I am certain all will enjoy.
Regards, Tom
