Yes, no Dave either Tom. Mac has reduced his visits too. Eastern Australia is suffering with floods at the moment.

Interestingly, while the administration here has not officially cut off purchasing of Russian oil, reports are coming out that most of our oil companies have, as well as divestiture from Russian energy products.

There is no doubt that the noose is tightening. A soviet official said that the West can't harm putin by hitting him financially as all he owns is a small apartment in Moscow and a beat up trailer in the countryside. Yeah right!

Do you mean should great Britain consider sending a mercenary force? Never heard that one Tom.

I think that the countries who have abstaind over condemning Russia should hang their heads in shame, south Africa and India are the biggest two. I expected it from Pakistan and a few more of these third world beggers, who just take hand outs from anyone daft enough to keep them a float.

I heard a rumor yesterday that some non native group or groups were going to go in and fight with the Ukrainians and that Britain said they would not or could nor stop them. It was a rumor, and I have no idea of who they might be.

Not heard that Tom, but it would surprise me. Young men have gone to the sound of the guns for centuries now, wars all over the globe have attracted men to fight for what they think right.

Ian, rumor is not what generally deal with, but wondered if you had heard anything similar. I am much more willing to opine on fact.
It appears to me the Russian air and land forces are not coordinating very well for a modern military. Thus we are seeing so much collateral damage and wasted energy. Logistics seem to be lacking as well.

Hi Tom, the talk out now says that a combination of bad weather and mud, lack of fuel and attacks by small bands of Ukraine troops, have slowed the Russians down, rather like the rasputia did to the Germans in late 1941.

The West can harm Putin. Russia's only export worth spit is energy. What has happened is reviewed in lazy historical terms here - www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-60622772With a dirge to do what was dine before. We have been threatened with nuclear weapons by Russia because of ENERGY POLICY. Saudi Arabia is doing the same. 1. Threaten Russia as it has us. 2. Massively increase spending on enerhy production at home. Problem over. It's a very simple difficulty we face. The solution is very simple. Invest in energy rather than weapons and threaten a bully with his own medicine.

Ideally that would be great, as Russia does sell large amounts of gas and oil to nations right round the globe, but say the west does find a way to cut Russia out of their market and go it alone, yes it would be great to be rid of them and go self efficient as it would hurt them financially but as we have seen in the likes of Africa and other places, a lot of countries are in the Soviets pocket and are committed to buying off them. Next time you see a flare up in Africa, check out the weapons on show, they are all russian.

This is obviously too little too late, but HR6858 needs to be passed, the President will surely ignore, but it would help if the mainstream US media would give this some play, not holding my breath.
The “American Energy Independence from Russia Act” will strengthen U.S. energy security and counter Russia by
Requiring President Biden to submit an energy security plan to Congress within 30 days to evaluate U.S. oil and natural gas imports, identify importing countries that pose an energy security risk to America, and encourage domestic production of oil and natural gas to offset imports from Russia; Immediately approving the Keystone XL pipeline to create thousands of American jobs and deliver an additional 830,000 barrels per day of crude oil to U.S. refineries; Unleashing U.S. LNG exports to boost U.S. natural gas production and displace Russian gas in the European market; Requiring the Secretary of Energy to develop a plan to increase oil and gas production on Federal lands to replace oil drawn down from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve; Unlocking America’s energy potential by requiring leasing and permitting of energy and minerals development on Federal lands and waters; and, Protecting domestic oil and gas, mining, and critical minerals production from further attacks by the Biden administration.

The Soviets have started using their 2S7 Pion heavy SP-Guns to shell cities, these have a 203mm howitzer which can fire a shell over 20 miles. They used a similar tactic when capturing Berlin, they then used their ISU-152s with 152mm Howitzers to smash large defended buildings.
