I have watched a few WW2 Naval films recently and some scenes mention about naval officers don’t salute each other when they are not wearing a cap. Both the RN and USN do this, but is the practice used in the air force and army?

As a general rule you do not salute when uncovered in the Army. Air Force is probably the same because they carry over most of their customs from the Army Air Force.
