Mike: Two new models on Armorama in the last couple of days that I think are outstanding. The first is a Soviet KV1 in 1/35 scale under the title of "A fight of local importance" and the second is a Hummel SPG. The camo on the Hummel is really good, very professional.

This thread has been dry for awhile, so I thought I would bring to the attention of those who model armored vehicles for a hobby a book I purchased last weekend.
"COLOURS OF WAR" by the folks at Battlefront in cooperation with the folks at Vallajo Paints. It is a how to book on painting armored vehicles and figures from WWII to the present. Supurb book, from which I have learned a heck of a lot, It is a step by step how to, presented by the very people who do the painting for Battlefront/Team Yankee. I was a bit reluctant to share this find until I tried some of the methods and techniques, As a few of my friends know I hate painting two, three, or four color camouflage. That was then. This is now. I just completed this morning a Leopard 1 in full NATO, following the techniques in the book. I spray painted the base coat, then brush painted the required NATO Black and Brown. The fininshed result looked like it just came from the tank factory. It will look even better after the paint cures and matt varnish and decals are applied. All because of reading the book. Highly recommended.
You can purchase it at any good gaming store that carries Battle Front/Team Yankee products or order it from the Battlefront/Team Yankee web site. The purchase price is $25 US.
PS: I neglected to mention that while the armor subject matter of the book is 15mm scale (1/100), the techniques are good for all scales. My experimental subject was the Tamiya Leo in 1/35 scale.
