Is it to early to discuss a possible 2018 run? I am thinking of asking a history loving cousin to come with me which if she agrees would make my life much easier-that is if there is big enough interest from everyone else. One of the carrots I want to dangle is the chance to meet very well informed people.
I do have a hard "I have to be home" date of the last week in May and possibly the first week of June. Gwen graduates High School next spring but I won't know the date until later summer. This year's class is graduating on June 2nd and I believe Sam graduated on the 5th.

Keep in mind my idea of camping out is when the Hilton is full and I have to settle for the Holiday Inn.
As I said on the founders thread, I have a college graduation to attend, but I would expect that to be in May.

There is always the Harlin. I have noticed that for some reason the hotels are being booked out quickly for the month of May even though it is a year out. I even checked in September and found little vacancies. I don't know if they can't book that far out or if that area of the country has discovered gas or something, it would be a shame to have to drive from Billings but they do have good hotels there.
I am shocked the Cheyenne haven't built a hotel and casino.

Crow have a Casino. There are limited accommodations in Hardin. Get Steve to give you the name of a Hotel in WY., not far away. Also visit the Buffalo Bill Museum.

How far is it from Sheridan to LBH? Is it better than from Billings to LBH?
I see no reason a wife wouldn't be welcome on the trip-granted there aren't huge shopping opportunities perhaps but I would be hard pressed to think that any of your wives wouldn't be up to perhaps a spa day or any other diversion that could be sought out and arranged.

Sheridan has a lot of places to visit and Billings is a big town that could be anywhere USA.
I think 2018 could be the family year for a visit. I know Tom is running out of sole visit vacation passes. If so I may bring my horses up to the 7th Ranch in 2018. Whiskey looks like he belongs in the Indians village but Custer would fit in with the cavalry. I am guessing that Benteen rode a walking horse. My horse Custer can walk at 9 mph and that would cause other non gaited horses to have to break into a trot. My QH Ranger would run up and attempt to bite Custer to get him to slow down.
Regards
Steve

The Montana Mayhem boys will be there in 2018. Haven't put anything in stone yet as far as dates but most likely around the anniversary.

It looks like if we can all coordinate the days we would have a chance to actually meet face to face.

I am going to put this short ramble here. Chuck gave you most of the news from Salina, the conference went well. I arrived late and missed the side trips. Saturday morning speakers put on two great presentations. The one that impressed me most was a comparison of Miles and Custer, the gentleman did his homework. I will not go into the whole thing, but Libbie and Mary Miles were great friends, They met at Ft. Leavenworth and remained friends until Mary's passing. I also heard a recording of an 1866/67 MOH recipient from the 7th Cavalry interviewed by Eddie Rickenbacker in the 1920's.
Now for the good stuff:
Had lunch with Chuck yesterday and the old Colonel still has his military bearing.Army military bearing is posture, gestures and behaviors that are consistent with standards expected of U.S. Army soldiers. Military bearing includes presenting a professional appearance, being courteous, projecting enthusiasm and confidence and having a positive outlook. He also listens, is a good listener and is very incisive when engaged one on one. Chuck bought lunch, at a wonderful restaurant that I have not been since 1997. Chuck has a wonderful wife, he may have married above his station in life. I also got the opportunity to visit the church which he has mentioned on the board, it is beautiful. If any visit him in Colorado Springs I recommend a visit.
Breakfast today with David was very enjoyable. We discussed many things, and his recommendation for location was top drawer. David, for whatever it is worth, I would not recommend your weight loss system to anyone, but you look good, the sparkle in your eye draws one in, when you are discussing a topic. Thanks for the morning. Since Chuck bought yesterdays lunch I paid it forward and bought breakfast. David tells me that he will pay that forward and buy for the next guest. Get in line.
Lastly today Ivisited a museum in Cheyenne, not bad. Later I visited old Ft. Laramie, well worth ones time. I will catch up with Steve tomorrow.
Regards, Tom
