I was glad to see a movie about Hugh Glass again at least it will create interest in some people to read more about that time. The true story is incredible. He crawled 200 miles with a broken leg held off the ground by a travois with maggots in his back, eating raw gophers and rosehips and berries. Hugh wasn't young he was in his 40s. Try and read Lord Grizzly by Manfred he talked to old timers that knew the true story.

I enjoyed that movie too JD, I am not a big fan of De Caprio but he was very good indeed.

Excellent film. Took some liberties with the actual history but well worth the matinee price we paid.

Matinee, wow we used to go to those back in the 1970s, the word matinee is still used today but now has a different meaning

can the different meaning be defined in polite society--or at least moderately polite society.
i can't even remember the last time I went to an evening showing of a movie--the price difference in tickets is substantual but then i'm not a huge movie goer--usually one or two a year. on the other hand we have a huge dvd collection--it is cheaper a lot of the time to just buy the movie plus there is close captioning.

Beth I am too much of a gentleman to disclose what it means over here, but there was a song out in the 1970s by a group called the starland vocal band (I think) and the title of the song is what it refers to over here.

Back in the early days of film, the 1960's, we used to go to the theater for the Saturday matinee for the main feature, short, cartoon and the news reels. Paid a nickle for a ticket, nickel for a coke, nickle for bag of popcorn and a dime for a large dill pickle. Often stayed for second showing.
Small town America being what it was I could not take my girlfriend to see Goldfinger because of the character Pussy Galore. Her Daddy would not let her go and he lost respect for me since I went to see the show. We broke up soon after. Regards Dave

It is Bond's first reaction to Miss Galore's name.

Honor Blackman (who played Pussy Galore) first made her name in the British TV series “The Avengers”, it featured a string of beautiful actresses which rivalled the Bond girls and featured Diana Rigg (another bond girl), Linda Thorson and Joanna Lumley. All four of them must have killed more men than Rambo, and I am not joking.
