hubby has always been a huge fan of the Avengers but i suspect that it was emma peel's catsuit that got his initial attention. why bond theme--what is more debatable is who is your favorite bond.

I used to like Connery until I found he was a real ass hole to his fans, I liked Moore but they went too comical, the Aussie guy was ok as an interim but then the others were much of a muchness, so I will go for Craig.
Bond theme...hmmmm of my head I will go for Carly Simon and nobody does it better.
Oh I still have visions of that cat suit, things like that do strange things to a young teenage boy.

Ah, Emma Peel. As a teenager in 66-67, I was head over heels in love with Diana Rigg. I really loved The Avengers during Diana's time. Her charm, wit, intelligence, and beauty had me going crazy. When Linda Thorsen came on board, she just didn't cut it as far as I was concerned. I really missed Diana. Linda came across as the "dumb blonde" type of character. It was wonderful when the series came out on DVD. Now I can see Diana whenever I want to. Of course my wife thinks the series was just plain stupid.

I believe Diana's replacement was called "Tara, as in Ta ra ra boom diay". As to Diana Rigg, I am sure I had a crush on her before you so stand in line!! ;-)

Connery as Best Bond of all, his being a jerk aside. Favorite theme, McCartney's Live & Let Die.

Sean Connery Best Bond Ever! Theme Music and opening scenes of belly dancer of From Russia With Love rated right up there with the Sears Roebuck Catalog and National Geographic! Soon after 9th grade (1964) first discovered Playboy's All American issue that came out in August without a doubt the greatest magazine ever published bar none! Could not tell you one of those All Americans to this day!
Plus the fight scene on the train was the best action clip in movies till Steve McQueen and his Mustang in Bullitt. Regards Dave

I remember that scene on the train, Bond first susses him as a Russian agent when he orders red wine with fish, apparently English gentlemen would not do such a thing.
Live and let die, I forgot about that one as I am a big Beatles/Wings fan, McCartney's late wife Linda wrote the reggae part in middle.

I don't even think a russian would order red wine with fish. i have to admit i don't have a favorite bond--I think everyone whose ever played the role has brought something unique to it. on the other hand i will probably prove i have no taste in bond movies when i say that on her majesty's secret service is my second favorite bond move. i'd have to put goldfinger at the top of the list.

The first three bond films are what we would term iconic bond films, From Russia with love, Gold Finger and Thunderball, they set the bench mark for all the others.
I must say though that the Craig films are very good and keep you on your seat.
I think we should stop this otherwise we will be bringing up the Man from Uncle next, and the delectable duo of Modesty Blaze and Fathom, or even Matt Helm, Harry Palmer and Derek Flint.
Aw go on then I will add Honey West.
