Okay, you have a guest coming from out of the area. Where would you take them to eat? Hopefully it's some place that is the best for your area's food.

McKenzie's Chop House, a Colorado Springs dining landmark. Mac was taken there when he visited me several years ago, and had Tom been in town longer, he would have eaten there too.

I have been eating and entertaining there for thirty years Beth, and I have never had either a bad meal or bad service. The prime rib is exceptional, and the New York steak superb.
There is another place in town called Bonny and Read, named after two female pirates, and it is excellent as well.

Depends on where I am. The Tobacco Company, in Richmond. Windows on the World fell on 9/11, so in New York or North Jersey I would choose The Manor, in West Orange NJ In Williamsburg, VA either the Trellis or the Williamsburg Inn Charlottesville, VA Michie Tavern Annapolis, MD Cantler's Chicago McCormick and Schmick or Ditka's Chicago is one of the great foo cities in the USA New Orleans I can think of 10, but everybody wants to go to Emeril's, St Charles St Oklahoma City Toby Keith's Any place on the Warf in Seattle
I used to travel a great deal and have hosted or been hosted in the above and more.
Regards, Tom

The Taven of the Green NYC, located in Central Park.
In the UK, I would cook you dinner. I may even nip out and get two large portions of chips, four large battered cod and a couple of tubs of mushy peas, all divided between four warmed dinner plates, then we could all sit down with some bread and butter and pot of good tea and eat.

And, I would rather eat at your house than the Tavern on the Green, that by the way is no knock on them. They have been doing something right for many years.

Tom, Widnes is not well blessed with English restaurants, we have a few gastro pubs who all serve the same grub, three MacDonald’s, a KFC, a Frankie & Bennies, a few Indian and Chinese restaurants, but that is it, the others are fish and chips shops who also do Chinese take-a-away, and pizza places plus a few Kabab houses.
What meal would you like to have, you know, a three-course meal with each course a dish you have never ordered but would like to. Mine would be;
Starter: Cheese souffle Main: Beef Wellington + mash potatoes & steamed veg plus a rich gravy
Dessert: Baked Alaska
Drinks: Chilled glass of Chardonnay with my souffle Room temperature red Bordeaux with my Wellington Chilled Riesling with my dessert

If I had a guest that wanted to experience Texas BBQ it would give me an excuse to try a place in Taylor which is about 15 miles way and considered one of the top TX BBQ in the state. www.louiemuellerbarbecue.com/I'm not a huge TX BBQ fan since I grew up with more of a Kansas City type BBQ which is a lot sweeter. I would take anyone for dessert to the Texan Cafe in Hutto. They have fabulous pies and if a person was interested in a more Southern type cooking it's pretty good. Last time I was there I had a fried green tomato BLT with black eyed peas.

I tried US BBQ in Leadville Colorado and it was a pleasant experience.
In the local, traditional, category the meat pie is a favorite here. Traditionally a short pastry crust with a puff pastry top, filled with a seasoned beef filling and served hot with tomato sauce (ketchup) in a brown paper bag for you to sit where you like and eat it and naturally spill the tomato sauce and meat gravy over your hands and clothing.
It also comes in a mini variety known as Party Pies for polite finger food.
In the 21st century we have become very gastronomic, especially here in Victoria, and the filling has become far more variable. "The winner of the Best Meat Pie in Australia for 2019 is the caramelized pork and pepper pie from Country Cob Bakery in the town of Kyneton, Victoria." Not fine dinning of course. Cheers

I will add a little bit to this thread. Truth be told I have never eaten in here but I have had two carryout sandwiches brought to me by a friend, when I was in an office not far away. Katz's Deli has been around a long time, 132 years,12 years after the LBH, 23 years after the ACW, and 3 years before my grandmother was born. A famous movie line was said here, "I'll have what she's having". With the many restaurants in trouble these days this is truly a great story. They have been through wars, economic depressions, and another Pandemic 100 years ago. www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/katzs-deli-offers-outdoor-dining-for-first-time-in-its-132-year-history/ar-BB16CTl1And, yes if I was in the lower eastside I would take someone there for lunch. Regards, Tom

My choice is Cameron Trading Post. It's hard to beat their Navajo Taco. My preferred dinner is the Cameron steak. It's a ribeye done enchilada style.
