It sounds like an interesting project. I would really appreciate a share if you find any further information on women's lives--both officer wives and enlisted wives, in the forts.

Beth, I'll certainly post a link to anything like that. What I found at the above site was an insight to fort life, food, washing etc. How the basics were dealt with then, makes history come alive for me. Best. c.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's those little bits of everyday life that make history real. I noticed it way back when I was a kid and toured Abraham Lincoln's home. As silly as it sounds, I noticed people walked through the house and looked, but they commented on the outhouse.
