For many years most of the material available on the Office of Strategic Services Operational Groups have dealt with OSS Detachment 101 in Burma. Ver little has been available about the OSS OG's in Europe, although there has been plenty on the Jedberg Teams whose mission profile was quite a bit different from the Operational Groups.
Just finished a new book called "Donovan's Devils" by Albert Lulushi which explores the OG's and their mission of behind the lines operations mainly in France, Italy, and Greece. These operation of training and leading local forces were carried out by first and second generation American who, or whose families were only on generation removed from the countries from which they came. The mission was later taken up in the early 1950's by the newly formed Special Forces Groups in the Army. Much of the TTP of today's SF, is derived from these Operational Groups.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I believe anyone who wishes to read it will find striking similarities to fighting Indians in the era we most often study here
