Today is the 72nd Anniversary of VJ Day, the end of WW II. The costliest conflict in the annals of mankind ended with Japan's capitulation. The supreme sacrifice by brave men and women enable us to exercise our constitutional rights which are availed by citizens of all ilks.
Thank you to all our veterans especially those from WW II. Regards Dave

I had two Uncles who fought in the Burma campaign, they were brothers, one [James] went out there in 1942 and the other [Edward] in 1945, Edward or uncle Ted as I used to know him, was wounded in France not long after D-Day and when he recovered they shipped him out east. I remember him talking about the capture of Rangoon. James never spoke much about the war, but he walked with a limp which he got when a mule kicked him in the leg. Both me ended the war as Sergeants. So I say thank you to them and my other uncle Peter [MM holder] and the old fella, my dad for risking their lives so that we could have our freedom.

Ian The saddest thing is that I never took the opportunity to speak with my Dad and all the other WW II veterans about their experiences if they would have shared with me. I kick myself often for not having the interest when the opportunity was available. Regards Dave
