I was just reminded of another great movie of the 1960s.
"Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines".
Who can ever forget Terry Thomas and his henchman, Sykes.
Gert Frobe, the Prussian Officer learning to fly by manual.
Plus as added bonus, Benny Hill and Red Skelton.
Great cast and just a lot of fun.

Carl, Terry Thomas was brilliant when he played either a cad, an upper class twit or a dozy officer, his best line was "look at you, your an absolute shower" but he pronounced the word shower as "shar" You all know about Benny Hill, Hill didn't many films but he starred in three big ones with Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Italian Job. Eric Sykes was always on the TV when I was a kid, he had his own series and was one of the best comedy scrip writers in Britain.

You all know how much I love my films, I watch a couple every weekend. I even like the old black and white movies from way back and this weekend I watch one from 1934. I was called “The Lost Patrol” and was directed by John Ford. As you would expect with a Ford film, it stared Victor McLaglen and also had a solder named Quincannon. The story was set in Mesopotamia [Iraq/Syria], and featured a British cavalry patrol who find a lost Oasis only to get picked off one by one by the local tribesmen.
It was ok actually, I must admit though, that Boris Karloff went a little over the top with his acting.

I love "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines" and all of the other chase type movies-sometimes there is nothing better for what ails you than a corny movie that makes you laugh. I particularly love "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" because it combines the chase with a musical plus Buster Keaton and Zero Mostel.
I showed Gwen "Airplane" recently after bits of it appeared as memes in response to some of the more public airplane incidents. Would you believe she has never seen a pay phone so didn't really 'get' the reporters running into the bank of phones. I felt so old because I had to stop the movie several times just to explain to her some of the things that were so ubiquitous in the 70's that are no longer around. Perhaps in another 20 or 30 years it will be viewed as vintage and recover some of it's humor.

Beth, As to a humorous chase movie how about "Its a MAD MAD MAD MAD World" It had I think 7 of the top comedians of the time. Be Well Dan

The first time I saw it I was in my mid teens and could not appreciate the talent or the humor of it. I had to get some age and experience to really appreciate it. I have become a fan of so many of the actors in it-except perhaps Milton Berle but then again I recently saw an old rerun of "The Mod Squad" that had Milton Berle in it and actually realized that he had some acting chops.
I'm going to have to see if it's on Netflix and watch it again because as I recall that despite all the comedy talent I thought Spencer Tracy stole the film, but then again Tracy always had great comic timing.
