I am definitely a Slim Whitman fan.
Also Spike Jones and the City Slickers, Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen, Bill Haley and the Comets, Billy Ward and the Dominoes, and the ever popular Guy Lombardo and the Royal Canadians. In fact I dig Guy and the boys up every 31 December so that I can enjoy New Years Eve.

How could you not mention Kay Kyser and his Kollege of Musical Knowledge? I waged those 78 rpm records all the time so I could my 45 rpm, "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" and later artists such as Buddy Holly's "Raining In My Heart", Patti Page the Singing Rage and the immortal Patsy Cline. I still love her voice especially singing "Life’s Railway to Heaven" also known as "Life is Like a Mountain Railroad". Regards Dave www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wck03Y72340

David: I read somewhere, can't recall just where that, that piece of video plus one with Popeye pissed off Hitler more than any other pieces of propaganda during the entire war.
Dave: I remember Patsy Kline as far back as when she was singing with Jimmy Dean and the Texas Wildcats. I went to school a block or two from Turner's Arena where they played on Saturday night. They would rehearse on Fridays and we would walk over there to watch them a couple of times a month.

My mother adored Slim Whitman, but she loved everything American and gone with the wind was her favorite film. But I think the best male singer to ever come out of the states is Roy Orbison. The best female singer is tough as there are so many, Linda Ronstadt maybe?

David, I was a big Joni Mitchell fan back in the day, but she is Canadian plus she is a great all rounder who can play various instruments and write songs rather then just sing other peoples stuff.

Babs is a really good choice for female artist but you have to admit Garth Brooks has had a pretty good carer. Regards Dave

Trying to stay sort of on topic perhaps we should rate Marlena Dietrich's performance in The Blue Angel. "When Lola Lola gives her love, no one ever loses".
