Seems we have mentioned the Battle of Vicksburg and the campaign so it should have its own thread. A local TV station in Jackson, 40 odd miles away, created a really nice video tour of Vicksburg and the battlefield for those who have not had the opportunity to visit the city and the park. Don't make your mind up too soon about your tour path. This siege/campaign/battle occurred over such a vast area that it is mind boggling try to see the country side. Some of the Confederate defenses are still fairly step and difficult to climb.
This is such a beautiful park with amazing memorials especially the Illinois Monument which is a most see stop. You will be updating and changing your agenda many times but it is all worth the effort.
