Tom,
Thank you for the post. Indeed if this man is guilty and it appears he is, then he is certainly dishonorable and a disgrace to the US Marine Corps. However, what I would like to know is how this screw up happened,=. What is the culpability of the VA. The story says he was sent to Germany foe a none medical reason, what was it, why was he sent. He said he had operations, by who. Who determined that this was service connected. he could have been in a car accident. What kind of check does the VA run before they hand someone $40,000 a year. Did they even check to see if he was awarded a purple heart.
Tom something is a little fishy with this. If anyone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it very much. There is always that possibility that I missed something
Be Well Dan

I do not see what the indignation is all about here. Is this man any different than the person who steals a Snickers bar from a five year old, or a person who knocks down someone's grandmother and steals her purse. A thief and thieving is the exact same regardless of who the victim is.
It is not the Snickers bar, the purse, or the valor that is in question. It is the moral turpitude of thievery.
This person saw an easy target in the VA, just like the 5 year old and grandma, and acted on it.
Don't be concerned with the thievery. Thieves always slip up and are eventually caught.
Be concerned with the status of the Veterans Administration that is understaffed, overworked, underfunded and has been in a state of complete disarray since it was established. That state of affairs is the greater wrong here.
And while I do not use the VA, my wife does for her hearing aids. She is currently having problems with one of them and there are as of last week 3250 patients ahead of her for an appointment. Not bitching. Just telling.
Amendment: It was an eye exam, not hearing aids

Chuck, you are harder on the man that occupies the highest office in the land than I, but I hope his administration does some of what was promised. Mainstream some of the medical issues to the private sector to alleviate the waits and drain the swamp that has caused this. Just last week a private sector was found to have bilked the govt. out of millions through billing. Theft is theft, as you say.
Dan, you are correct oversight is lacking, but you and I both know people scamming the system. Women with 4 children by 4 different men living on what she makes on the kids(from the govt.), to include free housing, teaching a whole new generation to do the same thing. Insurance fraud. Attorneys soliciting on TV to help perpetuate these frauds.
What can I say. We get to absorb the cost as a nation. Would love to see some examples made. Then we will have some demonstrations in the streets!
Regards, Tom

Tom: I don't care who it is that corrects the situation, be it the current president, or Little Orphan Annie. It needs correcting.

While individuals may claim credit, president or whoever, it will take a team to do it.
