William A. Frassanito made many of the photos of Antietam and Gettysburg famous with his books. In the process of identifying the modern day locations of the historic he also enabled thiose reading and looking at the pictures understand the difficulties these pioneer photographers had with travel, chemicals and hurrying to take their photos before the battlefield was policed and the bodies buried. I cannot even begin to understand how foul the odors must have been from thousands of men, the dead horses and men. Regards Dave
