Two great articles. The first put me in tears.
Dave your son-in-law has a great idea about putting faces and stories with the names. I hope he gets a good response because family memories would be best but if not I would be willing to google for as much information that can be found online.

Beth Oxford is still small enough that we can still have many family members in the community to share stories and tales of loved ones who served. We lost a young man from Oxford, Darrell DePriest, who I went to high school with. He was 2 years older than me and he died 2 weeks before his 21st birthday.
I anticipate that John, my son in law, will follow up on this story and share more stories of our local hero's and educate the young people of today to cherish our veterans. Regards Dave

I hope so. It's an interesting project. Let me know if there is anything we can do.
When the girls were little one of the things we used to do to teach them about the Memorial Day was to buy a couple dozen flowers and then go to the local cemetery to look for veteran's graves that seemed forgotten. We helped them to translate the information and talk a bit about their service. Usually my kids are not open to much history education, but that was effective and they would look forward to doing it. Unfortunately we stopped when we relocated.

I have posted another article by John Davis, my son in law, honoring a Lafayette county hero who did not make it home. It is sacrifices as this that have given us the privilege to act like fools over subjects and topics long passed. Mississippi had 423 fatalities in the Korean Conflict (War) and untold numbers were captured and killed or still just missing. My father who like Harry Truman, said it was a War 'cause people died and disappeared. Regards Dave oxfordcitizen.com/2016/04/22/never-forget-rikard-family-always-remembers-fallen-soldier/
