The Mississippi Band of Choctaw have 2 thriving casinos on their land in Central Mississippi. I believe it may be pay back for the Trail of Tears episode. I have seen the original trail from The Trail of Tears, it runs through the Pea Ridge National Battlefield in Northwest Arkansas. Regards Dave

I believe so but other tribes were forced out of their areas as well. This is an article about the Meskwaki Settlement in Iowa and how one tribe wasn't forced to resettle Meskwaki Settlementon the other hand, the Winnebago Indians were first resettled into Iowa from Wisconsin and the a few years later pushed on to Minnesota.

As I recall, Andrew Jackson got this started with the stroke of a pen, no congress consent. Could be wrong, a long time since I read details. If the man could not get his way you were in for a duel.

No one could ever accuse Andrew Jackson of being PC.

The Choctaws in Mississippi were the first to resettle after the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek in 1830. The Chickasaws soon followed them to Oklahoma. Regards Dave

It all started with Manifest Destiny. Correct that; $28 worth of trinkets to buy Manhattan Island. The Croatoans delayed the inevitable at Roanoke.
Best,
