Thank you Beth, that was good stuff and should not be lost or diluted!

Of the all the things Facebook does or does not do--- to see Michael Donahue and Fred discussing Benteen's Scout after I posted a picture of myself sitting on Roman at the Divide marker is one of those pleasant surprises.

Steve you looks like one of those big ranchers, surveying your land as far as the eye can see.

Ian
That's because Roman was a ranch horse and as long as I sat back and up he would stand still. He was a good horse and great horse for me. His cues were the same that I use here in Arizona.

Did any of you guys read what HR posted about the Capt. Keogh being a legitimate battalion commander?
Apparently the regiment was initially divided into two wings each with two battalions [four battalions in total] as so;
Right Wing; commanded by Maj. Reno 1st Battalion; Capt. Keogh 2nd Battalion; Capt. Yates Left Wing; commanded by Capt. Benteen 3rd Battalion Capt. Weir 4th Battalion Capt. French
He goes on to say that the wing system was ditched by Custer only four days before the battle, but he kept the four battalion formation, in the shape of;
Custer/Yates Reno Benteen MacDougal

HR brings some good stuff to the table. His carping about Reno and Benteen is some what annoying, along with some of his out of sync posts that seem off the wall.

If I wanted internet research HR would be a source for me. Ignore or accept his opinions just like any other poster.
