I am hoping to go to LBH this year, to meet as many of you as possible
I would like to recommend an odd exercise. That we do a combat patrol together. We will use Ranger handbook, and Army doctrine and TTP. Sound intimidating, but it is not.
Reenacting have a point, replicating an event teaches you.
I can conduct a virtual patrol on this board, if people would like that. Though there is a point where I recommend we go to an online voice chat, like Ventrilo, and talk it through.
Just a reminder, my injuries make my voice come and go, sometimes I am unable to talk at all.
Any interest?
William

Yes, depending upon time of year. I have a granddaughter graduating in early June.
A staff ride on foot I presume.

Will,
I will spring for your horse at Real Birds, Steve rides, I can get along rather well, and Dave is an avid rider, though he won't admit it. We can get Chuck a carriage, as I have heard what his idea of camping is.
I look forward to no matter how we do it.
Regards, Tom

He needs an old geezer to serve and assist him in to his buggy. Regards Dave

It's looking unlikely that I will be able to make it to LBH this year unless it is with the help of a wheelchair. I would appreciate doing a virtual patrol. Let me know if you would like your own area set up and I will do it. Also any video component could always be worked around any problems.

Dave, If the Col. gets his wheeled conveyance I am certain to be relegated to rear guard and evening KP duty.

Beth If you can make it to the airport I can assist with the chair. I have no desire to ride any type of 4 legged creature than can bite, kick, stomp or throw you off. We will ride in the car and save our behinds from being so sore. Regards Dave

Actually I was just talking to Sam about how I wouldn't make the trip and it turns out she would like to go so lets just say things are up in the air again. And Steve sounded like he might even consider taking us instead of making it by bus so who knows here might be a Christmas miracle. Although if he would come he has no interest in the battle so alternate entertainment suggestions would be appreciated. He doesn't golf either.

Beth, There is a strip club in Cody, just kidding. If you go to the Rapid City portion, Deadwood is much fun. Yellowstone can be done easily from the battlefield. Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody. Steve and I have discussed trap shooting. There are also several good restaurants in Billings. Lastly the folks Steve will meet are fine folks. The food at our camp ground will be good, promise. Lastly, drop a PM to Fred on the other board, he and friends do this every 3 years. Couple of haunted hotels can be found, if that would interest you. I think the reenactment is 24,25,&26. Two NA reservations to visit. The people are the best get. Lastly you can drop Gerry a PM on the Rini board, he would be a good contact for you anyway, he is a gentleman, knowledgeable, and the master of ceremonies at the reenactment. I hope most of this helps, if all else fails check the net. Does Steve have associates he would like to see from Idaho, that might come over?
Regards, Tom

Tom Great post!
Beth Does Steve drink beer? If so we can entertain him. He might see this as an opportunity to make Mama happy. It works at my house and many others I bet. Regards Dave

Yellowstone would the biggest draw. When we went a few years ago we weren't able to do about 1/4 of the park because an accident had the road closed and we have always wanted to go back. Yellowstone should be on everyone's bucket list.

To prevent too much thread drift I am going to move the posts about traveling to LBH this summer to it's own thread

I need particulars on the trip. I don't think the conference is possible but I am more hopeful about making it a family trip to LBH. Both girls are interested so perhaps even if we have to take the bus...and rely on the kindness of friends to get around it just may be doable.
I really wish the US hadn't been so slap happy about getting rid of train routes years ago.
