I don't know about the other fellows here that wore a uniform but my view on this may seem a little strange to those who offer a heartfelt thanks for what little we all did when you put it in perspective. The ones to really be thanked are in Arlington, or above Omaha Beach, and so many other places around the globe. For me, I get a little bit embarrassed when I am standing in some checkout line, receive a military discount on some item, and the clerk thanks me. Don't really know how to respond. I got a chance to do what I always wanted to do. Learned a lot that I would not otherwise have. Not many people can actually say they loved their job. I loved mine and got paid for doing it, so in some sense I am the one who should say and give thanks for the opportunity I had in life. So, thank you to all those who did not serve, but supported those who did.

11-11-23 is called armistice day over here. Tomorrow is remembrance Sunday when in every part of the UK, people in every city, town and village will be laying wreaths in remembrance of all who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Well we have Memorial Day too in May. Tho there is some overlap I suppose with Veterans Day, MD is generally where we honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Vets Day is to pay respect to those who have worn a uniform. Have a good Remembrance Day tomorrow!

American Memorial Day is to honor the Fallen. Veterans Day Is for all who served, dead or alive.
When people thank me I usually respond with:
It was my privilege to serve our great republic.
Sometime I want to say I didn’t due it for you.
If some one really gets my goat, I might recite:
When we were needed, we were there. It wasn’t always easy, it wasn’t always fair When freedom called we answered; you weren’t there.
