From the US Army War College:
The success of any #staffride is contingent upon the depth of preliminary study engaged in by the participants. A working knowledge of the capabilities, doctrinal employment, and limitations of historical weapons systems is crucial to analyzing tactical decision-making.

Apropos to Michael: If people would pay attention to preliminary study, a working knowledge of capabilities, doctrine, and system limitations, this very place could be a staff ride in cyberspace, but alas that is not the case. People would never think about conversing on the subject of baseball, without a working knowledge of the sport itself, but they think nothing of coming here and opining on our profession without having the fundamental underpinnings you mention Mike, either by experience, or study, or both. Coming here to learn is perfectly OK. Questions are what we are here to both encourage and answer (if we can). Coming here to OPINE without previous learning is wasting cybergoop, or whatever this stuff we send into space that ends up here is called.
