QC: No need for ice, but it would be nice to have a hot water heater in it to warm up rations. British AFVs have them. DR Pepper was invented by a druggist in or near Waco, TX according to the museum there. As i recall, there is an exhibit there in which an infantry captain did a test with his troops of marksmanship with some not drinking either Coco-Cola or DR P, some drinking Coke, and the rest DrP. The DrP guys alledgedly shot better, at least better than the Coke drinkers. I think the exhibit does say something about cocaine and this site states it does contain it. teens.drugabuse.gov/blog/post/coca-colas-scandalous-past#:~:text=Coca-Cola%E2%80%99s%20history%20has%20been%20well-documented.%20The%20drink%20was,inspired%20the%20%E2%80%9CCoca%E2%80%9D%20part%20of%20the%20beverage%E2%80%99s%20name.

I am gratified to learn that American tankers don;t have hot water heaters. Who ever heard of eating rations hot anyway? It is practically uncivilized not to eat them cold.
They had to shoot better Mike, so that they could get off that damned range, and take a crap after all that prune juice.

Fight Light, Freeze at Night!
or as Manual Noreiga said, "I wanted a Bud Light. Not the 7th ID (Light)!"

A staple to all British soldiers was a can of bully beef, a tin of mixed veg and potatoes an oxo cube and heated through in your mess can, serve with hard tack, well that is what the old guys used to tell me.

Mike: You do have to practice to be miserable, by the Beard of Saint Crispin, and two fingers to the French knights. It's what light soldiers do for fun.

miserable is getting your tank stuck in a iced over creek and thwoing a track. someone has to get into the water to attach the tow cables to the hooks. Sometimes, you have to break the track and pull that out too. Oh. Its snowing, the wind is blowing like 80 miles an hour, the snow is falling nort to south instead of up to down, you are wet, and its dark. and you have to put all that crap back together again.

Mike, I've been there and done that, though not in snow, but with a stuck tank in cold, muddy water. Almost couldn't get it out with the M88 up on its spade. Had to get the tank started so the tracks could break up the suction the mud was creating, along with the M88 pulling for all it was worth.

I needed three. If I had tried to have the tank started, I would have blown the pack since the exhausts were flooded with water.
