I do not know what to say about Carl other than to state that he was a soldier, a gentleman, a friend, and a founding member of this board. Carl passed away 6 September 2017 at the age of 86, and his knowledge and wise council will be missed by all of us.
Carl served in the Army on active duty in Germany in the early 1950's as a member of the United States Constabulary, and upon discharge joined the Iowa Army National Guard and served until his retirement in 1968. He is a graduate of Iowa State University.
Carl is survived by his wife Marlene and four children.
From this moment our company will be less complete without his presence. We can only console ourselves with the knowledge that as I write this Carl is giving Saint Barbara lessons in gunnery.

Such a loss. A great contributor and more importantly a wonderful gentleman.

He was a man of grace who had great wisdom and showed no fear in saying what he thought and would do so without malice. He helped me a lot with some of the US artillery data on my site and was always willing to share knowledge from his military career.
Goodbye my friend.

A gentleman who spoke up for those who could not and held firm for the truth and justice. He will be sorely missed by this board and his friends and admirers. Regards Dave

I noticed that Carl worked for Maytag, as I recall ML worked for them as well. I wonder if they worked at the same plant at the same time?
Regards, Tom

Regards, Tom It has been a few days since I have been on here for, I was on a trip in Santa Fe and have been doing some work on my little "suite" here in Texas. I worked at Maytag from 1980 to 2007 when they closed. Most of that time I worked in Plant 2, the factory, but did work in the main office for about 6 months during a layoff of the plant. Beth told me that Carl worked in a IT postion and that would of been in the main headquarters building. I do not recall the name but, I was there for such a short time as to get to know people outside of my own area. My condolences goes to all of you for the loss of your friend.

Jennifer You have my sincerest sympathies. I knew your father only through posts but I could tell he was a man of convictions and had litte use for those who did not know the truth. He was proud of his service , country and family. I wish we could have gotten to know him better
I know how proud he would have been for you coming here and sharing your thoughts! Regards Dave
