Cute:
1. The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country
2. The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country
3. The New York Times is read by people who think they should run the country, and who are very good at crossword puzzles.
4. USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country but don't really understand The New York Times.
5. The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn't mind running the country, if they could find the time, and wouldn't have to leave Southern California to do it.
6 The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country.
7. The New York Daily News is read by people who aren't too sure who's running the country, and don' t really care as long as they can get a seat on the train.
8 The New York Post is read by people who don't care who is running the country as long as they do something really scandalous, preferably while intoxicated.
9. The Chicago Tribune is read by people that are in prison and used to run the state, and would like to do so again, as would their constituents who are currently free on bail.
10. The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country , but need the baseball scores.
11. The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren't sure if there is a country, or that anyone is running it; but if so, they oppose all that they stand for.
12. The National Enquirer is read by people trapped in line at the grocery store.
13. The Seattle Times is read by people who have recently caught a fish and need something to wrap it in.

Be thankful then that the fourth Estate is being read, for whatever reason, for they maintain both the voice of the people in a free democracy and society and the third check and balance on any of the other three branches of government. The founders were very smart in the way they ordered the first ten amendments. the first made guarantees, and the second contains one means of defending those guarantees.

Tom, your post reminds me of a joke about variations on interpreting the term "sh*t happens".
Don't remember all the derivations but here are the few that I do:
Catholocism: Sh*t happens and you deserve it. Judaism: Why does sh*t always happen to us? Episcopalian: Let sh*t happen to someone else!
Happy Sunday everyone!
Best,
David

I lived in Boise and Sam wants to move to Seattle so yes on the Seattle times. The NY Post I find very amusing there is a British paper that is really similar to it that I also read regularly but for the life of me I forget it's name at the moment. I also read the a number of foreign newspapers to get as broad of coverage of National and International events as possible.
I am a news junkie and probably need to find help.

I missed this two when I put the Religion Sh*t list in word to do a global substitution on the word sh*t.
• Nihilism: No sh*t. • Narcisism: I am the sh*t!

Beth, where did you find the links for foreign newspapers. I would be interested in how they view the current issues. I stayed in a French home when I was in France and was snapped awake by their different view of the world and life. It really made me think.

Beth, where did you find the links for foreign newspapers. I would be interested in how they view the current issues. I stayed in a French home when I was in France and was snapped awake by their different view of the world and life. It really made me think. It makes a huge difference to get news from the source especially overseas. I know hubby was shocked how different things were viewed in the Canada press over the US when he was working their for months at a time. Don't think this is a suck up Mac but I particularly love Australian news papers, especially when it comes to Pacific and Asian news. I just google for international versions of national papers since unfortunately I only speak and read English. I use google's translate function but I sometimes suspect things do get lost in the translation. I learned long ago that it is always best to go to local news reporting when it comes to major stories. They have the insight and the people 'on the ground' to do the best job. Here is a list of French online papers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_newspapers_in_France It has both a list of French newspapers but a handful of English editions.

As you know we have an election looming and the media is full of interviews and polls, but there was one news show on the other morning in which they asked the public what gets them angry and this woman said;
The newspapers, as these are owned by foreigners who don’t even live in this country, but manipulate the government with cash donations in an effort to bring in laws which benefit them only.
Which is very true.
