There is a book published in 1919 Called the Official History of 82nd Division American Expeditionary Forces Written by Divisional Officers and Designated by the Division Commander. Beth, I have Grandpa's copy. I am currently rereading it which takes some time because it is very fragile. I remember seeing the book in Grandpa's house with his other war stuff but never knew the title. I knew that it had been passed down to your Dad so I am very glad it's in hands that will cherish it. Am I right that besides the book there was a gun and gas mask? I was just googling to see if one could purchase a copy from a used book dealer and found this. Does it look like a reprint of the original? www.82ndairbornedivisionmuseum.com/product/official-history-of-the-82nd-division-american-expeditionary-force-all-american-division-1917-1919/If it is, I am sooo going to order it.

That is what the cover looks like. My Dad told me that Tommy had Grandpa's gas mask and helmet. I don't know about the gun. I was scared of the gas mask when it hung in the upstairs storage room in the old farm house. I remember it clearly. I loved that room.

Also, I think Mike has his service papers. Cathy is doing the family genealogy. She has some information and pictures.

It WAS scary! And I totally agree about that upstairs storage room, even though we only got to the farm once or twice a year, I have such fond memories of the farm. I just wish I had some pictures. My parents just were not that into taking pictures.

We were there often. I knew every nook and cranny of the farm house and grounds. I can see it all in my mind in detail.
